Chicken scratch

 I love handwriting.
Everyone's. Almost.
There is something so fun about seeing the way a person's hand naturally writes. How we all scribble down the same letters from the same alphabet, yet they all look so different. How does that happen??
I love writing notes to people. Taking time to hand-write something means so much more then quickly typing up an email and sending it with the click of a mouse. Writing things by hand shows time. Care.  P.S. I'd make a great pen pal.
I have something to tell you, that I have tried to keep a secret for a long time. Brace yourself.
It is hard to keep it a secret, frankly.
My handwriting sucks.
Not just sucks, uber-sucks.
It is so bad. So sloppy. Not the cute intentional sloppy, but the ugly sloppy.
And if I had three wishes, I might just spend one on having beautiful handwriting. After I get Carrie Underwood's voice, of course.
Here is some handwriting I am jealous of:

How is your handwriting?
What would you spend your wishes on?

dat dang mortifying monday

Today I worked the slowest day ever at my work.
Like slower than slow.
Only two people came into work today and they were both gone by 3 in the afternoon.
Then came three long hours of me in the store all by myself listening to Shakira's She Wolf
It was ugly, people.
BUT
The good news is I am home in my pajamas now. And I can hear Brock and his dad making deals with each other downstairs while they play monopoly.
Why didn't I play? Uhhh... I did. Britton and I got out a while ago, and I wasn't going to stick around while they fight to the death.
So anyway, on another note, I have been having fun with my makeup lately.
Probably because I spent a bunch of money on new makeup...or something.

P.S. I'm cutting all that hair tomorrow!
Okay, okay, not all of it.

And I found out, via my new job, that I love putting make-up on people!
Except that one lady. The one who I am convinced is a witch doctor.
I am pretty content knowing that today is pretty much the worst that my job is going to get. I can handle that. Plus, usually it's a lot of fun!

On to the one and only, Mortifying Monday!
The time where Olive talks about embarrassing things. Let us begin...

When you see something on someone's mouth, and you can't help but lick your own lip in the same spot. They TOTALLY see you doing it and realize there is something on their lip. Now you wish you would have just told them. When random customers tell you waaaay too much personal information about their lives and families in a short period of time, leaving you to come up with some sort of polite response that also says, "stop talking." The flem in the back of my throat that will suddenly attack and make me do a violent short cough. Sometimes in people's faces.  When people introduce me as Brock's girlfriend, or Jodi's son's girlfriend. Do I have no identity?? When I swear someone has hidden my keys out of spite and they are in my hand or in my purse. How the freezing weather makes my face so dry that it is visible...and gross. Lady, don't pretend like you aren't looking at the dry skin on my nose. How I made the title of this blog "day dang mortifying monday." How there hasn't been toilet paper in this house all week. Paper towels are an itchy not a great substitution.

Hope your Monday was wonderful!

Snip Snip

I can't wait to get my hair cut.

It is so blah right now.
I need some pizazz.

Something to inspire me to actually style it and be cute.
I think I will cut my grown out bangs back into side bangs.
But somehow I feel like I always regret that.
I wish I could cut my hair short, but then I look like I'm 11 years old.
Not in a cute way. But in a waitress-gives-me-the-kids-menu-at-restaurants kind of way.

I want all of these hairstyles. At the same time.

I love her color and the fact that she has this amazing up do that is soft and delicate instead of harsh on her features.
I guess that is easy to accomplish when you are that pretty.

Great side bangs.
And teeth, by the way.

I have never had straight across bangs.
They scare me.
I'm too afraid they wouldn't look good on me. They are kinda hard to hide.

 More fabulous side bangs.
Maybe if I just had a stylist that did my hair everyday then mine could look like this too.

Aaaand, the short hair I secretly long for.
But I know I will be so upset once I cut it because I will realize I can't do that many things with it.
But a girl can dream.
Whose hair do you love?
I need some more inspiration!

Keg in the Closet

WOWZA.
These last few days have been crazy.
Yesterday I got my nails done.
I have never had my nails done because:
1. I bite my nails.
2. ..... the first one was basically the only reason.
And I love it!

I also got a Decleor Deep Cleanse Facial. Yeah I know, am I spoiled, or what??
It was amazing. I just about fell asleep because it was so relaxing.
THENNNN
I got to hang out with Kelsey and Mara last night. Um, they rock.

Aren't they cute?
We had a late night Sharis meeting where I stuffed my face with fries and a milkshake.
Also, last night I finished the book I'm reading.
The Hunger Games!
People, you have to read this book.
Brock convinced me to read it and it was so good. Lucky for me we  have a sequel and I'm going to start it tonight! That sounds so nerdy!

So today, I drove an hour and a half to go shopping.
Not just ANY shopping, but bridesmaid dress shopping
:)
It was sooo fun. I tried on a whole ton of dresses and watched some lovely brides try on dresses too.
Every time a bride picked a wedding dress they rang a bell and everyone clapped. I felt like I was part of all of their families. Only not because that would be a lot of bridesmaid dresses to buy.
And tomorrow is the Super Bowl!
I don't know where all my time goes
but it sure goes fast!
I think that's a song by Kenny Chesney.
P.S. I used to be convinced I was going to marry him and live on his private island. Yeah you heard me, PRIVATE ISLAND.
I'll leave you to daydream about that.

Oh the places I will go...

"The World is a book, and those who do not travel read only a page."
-St. Augustine

I know everyone likes to say they want to travel. It's the hip thing to do. Everyone also says they are going to travel at some point.
But how many people actually get around to it?
If I get through my life without having visited some amazing countries, I'll be so disappointed. Not to mention un-cultured. Is that a word?
I feel like this is the time in my life where I am the most able to travel.
I'm young. Full of energy. I don't have a whole lot of financial responsibilities.
All signs point to travel. See ya in the Netherlands, people!
Yet, it seems like I still have so many things keeping me from going anywhere.
Like: Uh, I could save my money and use it on something responsible. Like shoes!.... juuuust kidding ;) I have to go to school. And by that, I mean I want to. I have a great job that I wouldn't want to sacrifice. My dad might have a heart attack if he finds out I'm going to another country where he can't make sure I'm safe.
Even though all this is true, I am still determined to visit some great places in my life.
Maybe after college? Does everyone say that? Well I really mean it. Seriously.
I actually have my passport so I'm basically half way there. Don't argue with my logic.
Here are some be-a-uuuuu-tiful places that I would like my little peepers to look upon:
In real life though. Duh.

I think I could make riding a camel look good.

Needless to say, I have some places to travel to.

If you could leave today, where would you go?

Ring Reminiscing

What's the same about all these pictures?

If you didn't catch on, I have my nose pierced.
Looking at these pictures just makes me sad. I want it back!
I got it done during high school and had it for about a year and a half.
I took it out because Starbucks had these really stupid dress-code rules.
It closed up in about two days.
Gone. Adios. Sayonara.
I have been thinking about wanting to getting it pierced again.
I miss having it!
For most of the time I had a stud in. Then toward the end of my fling with the nose piercing, I switched to a ring.
I felt like my cool factor went up like 99%
Now I just have a plain face.
Boo.
Of course, there were definitely downsides:
1. It got a little sore sometimes on days that it happened to get touched a lot.
2. Sleeping on the left side of my face was uncomfortable.
3. When I first got it pierced it bled for a week straight and I couldn't work. Apparently you can't serve pizza with a bloody face. Who knew?
4. It left a little mark on my nose. It is pretty much like a big pore gross, I know. So there is always the possibility of that getting more prominent if I pierce it again.

Sooo, what to do?
Maybe if I wait it out then my craving for one will pass and I will be content without it.
OR
maybe I should just do it.
What do you think?

Ring by Spring?

Okay, so the joke at APU the school I went to in Cali is that every girl is looking for a "ring by spring."
Seriously though, I think some girls come to school for the sole purpose of finding their husbands
the education is just an added expensive bonus.
I think it's pretty ridiculous, but then again, I came into college already having a boyfriend.
But, in any case, I don't believe love is something you can look for. You never find it. It finds you.
You can waste many heartbreaking hours searching for love but it usually ends with people lowering their standards because they are so eager for a relationship that works.
Man, this is not at all where I was going with this blog.
What I was really meaning to talk about is the fact that I love love! No I didn't accidentally double that word, I really do love love.
And I especially love weddings.
But not rings by spring. Just to be clear.
I recently looked at the new J Crew magazine and it blew my mind as always.
One thing I saw that I didn't know, is they make wedding dresses!
How did I never know that??
Here are a few that I love found here on the J Crew website.

Ummm... hello?
These are gorgeous.
You know why I have weddings on the brain? Besides the million people who are asking me when I'm getting married
When I first discovered it I was like, this is cool.
Then I obsessed over it for 43645645 hours.
You know why?
Every picture is gorgeous.
Every location is amazing.
Every idea is perfect.

Yup, so that is what I'm in love with right now.

What is your current obsession?
